Christian Sun
Computer Science Student at University of Pennsylvania
Hi! My name is Christian, and I'm a computer science student at the University of Pennsylvania with minors in data science, mathematics, and music.
I love computers and have been programming since I was twelve-years-old. Through my experiences from growing up in Singapore to attending Penn, I have developed a wide range of interests and experiences in the fields of software development, data science, and quantitative finance. I am constantly seeking to work towards developing skills and taking on new and exciting challenges in these fields and am open to many opportunities!
Some of my hobbies outside of programming include music, roller coasters, poker, and keyboards. In high school, I was one of the top clarinetists in the nation; I have always had an affinity for music. I am also a roller coaster enthusiast and have ridden 141 roller coasters so far. I can often be found studying poker solver outputs or playing anywhere I can. My current typing setup is a NK65 Entry keyboard with Tangerine switches.
A brief timeline of my experiences
I built a computer vision model to identify damaged buildings in satellite imagery using Python and the PyTorch deep learning library to accelerate humanitarian relief operations.
I scored a perfect 36/36 on the ACT and enrolled in the University of Pennsylvania's Computer Science undergraduate program.
I oversaw a staff of 35+ TAs and held weekly recitations, office hours, and graded assignments for Penn's data structures & algorithms courses.
I implemented an end-to-end solution with an API to extract data and generate statistics on the usage of Macmillan tools by teachers and students.
I saved Stripe $1.3M by improving their machine learning model for detecting fraudulent payments and transactions.
I will be headed to work as a quantitative trading intern at Susquehanna International Group in Philadelphia during the Summer of 2023!
